Why I Admire Harper Lee
I admire her for her:
Courage – to write such a book in the 1950s. Race was an extremely divisive topic.
Humility – She has shunned publicity and rarely speaks in public or talks about her accomplishments.
In 2007 when urged by the audience to say a few words at the Alabama Academy of Honor, she replied, “Well, it’s better to be silent that to be a fool.”
Accomplishment - To Kill a Mockingbird is such a moving and poignant book about racism that I believe everyone should read it!
